Has anyone NOT Pb'd?

I just had my first fill and am petrified of the dreaded PB. In another thread of posts by people who were banded the same month as me, it seems that everyone is starting to PB now that their getting fills.

Is a PB inevitable, or are there people here who have been banded and filled for sometime that have not PB'd? I'm doing everything I can to avoid it, but is it truely avoidable or will it happen sometime regardless?

I was banded on August 7, 2006, and have had no hint of PB, nausea or any other digestive problem. I have had one fill, and believe I have zero restriction. In fact, I seriously wonder if my band has fallen off. I've only lost 23 pounds in 8 weeks; the doctor is happy but I wish I were losing faster.

When I pb, afterwards I think about it and realize it is almost always my fault. Most of the time it is a result of my not having followed the bandsters rules, chewing to mush, taking tiny bites and waiting in between bites. As long as I remember to follow those rules I don't have a problem. Most of the time now, when I have a pb it is because I have tried something new and learned the hard way that it does not agree with my band.

I am a little over a year out and I am happy to say I have not experienced this PB but once and it was mild and it happened right after my tightest fill in my band, I was eating at a restaurant some lamb and some of the food came back up. I have slimed before in the mornings when I am tighter and this is usually when drinking something too cold.

But no I have NEVER had a problem with vomiting, thank god I have lost over 100 pounds without having to vomit....also I am over a year out and I have NEVER gotten aggressive fills either all my fills have been conservative about .5cc per fill in my 4cc band. I have to admit I am really tight now and I have 2.7ccs in my band and I have to be very careful to chew good and not drink really cold liquids otherwise I could easily experienced PB/vomiting...the bottom line is the MORE SALINE YOU HAVE IN YOUR BAND AND THE LESS CAREFUL WITH CHEWING ONE IS...THE MORE LIKELY YOU WILL HAVE A PB...

Also the more YOU put into weight loss the better off you are without having to depend solely on your lap band...Caution some newbies have already gotten agressive fills too early and have either experienced band slips or total UNFILLS...it is wise to go slow with fills...NOW after I have lost over 100 pounds...I feel like I can cruise into onederland easily since I exercised like crazy to get the bulk of my weight off and now I can enjoy a tight band to help get the remainder of my weight off with little effort and hopefully without any PBs...:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I have had 2 PBs, but it was 6-9 days after a fill. The first time I was having Potato Soup and the second blended brocolli. Both times I was being a good banster and eating slowly. They were caused by too much fill and went away after an unfill.

I have not ever PB'd. I have had the "golfball" feeling. I have been banded for over a year.

I never pushed my restriction; I went very slowly on that. I would rather live more closely to "normal" and accept a slower weight loss. It's all about choices.

I didn't PB for about 3 months after I was banded. Of course, I had nearly no restriction for about 3 months. Now I PB around once a week. I'm curious as to what other people constitute a PB as. I count it as spitting up slime (for me it's sort of like "coughing" up slime).

In nearly 3.5 years, I can still count the times I've PB'd on both hands. It is not a pleasant experience, nor is it healthy for your band or esophagus. The goal is to NOT PB, not the reverse.

I haven't PB'd either. I had my first fill Sept. 7. I think I'm losing restriction now, but I'm scheduled for another fill around Oct. 26.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I escape unscathed and not experience the PB everyone talks about.

I have PB'd...a lot. For the past year I always thought I was a skosh too tight but my dr always disagreed. Recently I went in and said I was PB'ing every day and he agreed to take some out. No PB's for a week! yay!

My personal take is that everyone should have AT LEAST one so you 1) know what it feels like 2) know what causes them and you can 3) learn how to avoid them.

PB's are not to be feared, they are a part of being a bandster. It's scary the first time you do and you certainly want to avoid THAT from then on.

Also, me personally, I define a PB as when I have to bend over the toilet and let the slime and whatever else come back out.

OH! And many, many, many thanks to The Best Me for her advices about aloe juice. It works wonders. Calms my band after a PB and also calms the recent burny feeling I've been having. Good stuff!!!

Even though there are some on this board that haven't PB'd. It's HIGHLY likely that you will. Do everything you can to avoid it because it's not so good for your band, but in all probability, it will probably happen at some point anyway. Just to set your mind at ease about it, though - it's really not that bad. Some people make it out to be this terrible event, but honestly, it takes up about 2 minutes of your life, most of the time, and I don't think it's painful, just a little uncomfortable pressure.

I've been banded since June 06 and have had 3 fills in a VG band. NO PB YET or slime. One golf ball that was uncomfortable but went down fine.

Kirsten, I'm pretty new to band, but no PBs for me. It really scares me, too! Yet, I'm also a wee bit curious - just so I know what to expect.

This fill I had yesterday is pretty tight and I'm taking it really slow. I think that is the key.
