Recommended Posts

Me too! My doctors office however is dancing around a week after they originally said it would be sent in! They told me to call this afternoon to check back....so frustrated! I'll be praying for you. Keep me updated on your approval!

Also waiting..... It's took a month for my surgeons office to get all their paperwork together!!! But they said they finally submitted it Monday, I checked with Aetna via email and they did receive it. :) I'm going to put a call in tomorrow to aetna and check on the status. They say they have up to 2 Wks to respond but most people said they had an answer within 3 days! Then it's back to waiting on the surgeons office.

I waited 2 weeks for approval after I jumped through all my hoops. It was the worst part of the whole process. Uggghh Good luck.

Thanks everyone......its crazy when I think about the fact that all the necessary medical professionals are supportive of me getting this but it all comes down to the ins company! Crazy.....ins company shouldn't dictate medicine

I agree! I met the requirements set by the insurance, but not the ones set by my husbands company. Sucks! Waiting to start the appeal process now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

I know how you feel. Paperwork was submitted on Sept 25th with an October 22nd surgery date. Got word on the 15th my physc eval was out of date so I went the next day and faxed it right away. They didn't have it approved by the 19th so I had to reschedule the surgery to November 5th. I finally got the approval so I'm ready to go!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
