Hey guys, Im doing well. Of course weight loss has slowed but the scale is back to moving after my stall. Down 32 lbs and getting in regular cardio and resistance training. Getting in the Water next week...very excited about that! Other than that I'm trying to push to goal as quickly as possible. Ive got about 100 lbs to lose to get between my goal and my drs. Long journey ahead. Lol

Thanks for checking in!

I've just read this entire thread & added as friends those of you who seem to still be active. I'm using Dr. Macik & am just finishing the pre-op reqs. I'm planning for June 19. I live in Athens now, but grew up in Decatur. Hotlanta babes gotta stick together!

Good luck! I'm 3 months post-op and have been very happy with the results - note that weight lose is slower than you will be expecting - and lifestyle changes are the key - but it is all worth it!! Best wishes as you approach your new journey!

Hi everyone.... I'm from Auburn, AL, but my surgeon is going to be Dr. Wes Turton from West Georgia Medical Center. Has anyone used him or know of him? His office is in LaGrange, GA.

Hello everybody I'm new to the site I'm from Norcross Georgia I am currently looking for a doctor that accept Medicaid only for weight loss surgery. I attended a seminar with Dr Steinberg in Decatur Georgia which was very informative but unfortunately they did not take Medicaid only so I don't know what to do now. If anyone could assist, please let me know I really would love to begin my journey with all of you

I don't know much about Medicaid, but would they have a list or something online of which surgeons accept Medicaid? Maybe a way to search within X miles of your ZIP code? My insurance company has that, so I'm assuming Medicaid might be similar. Maybe Google "bariatric surgeon medicaid atlanta"?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
