Whats Wrong With Me?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I'm 6 months out and down 90lbs, but I'm freaking out because lately I feel more hungry more often and like I can eat more. Although I eat healthy 95% of the time I feel like I've hit a stall and don't know why I don't really get that full feeling really or why I get hungry so fast after eating. Help!!!!

how often are you eating, i tell you this if you eat every 2-3 hrs it speeds up your metabolism and that means what you eat is being used for energy and leaving you hungry.

I started to get a return of "hunger" about 7 months post op. My only advice is to keep your portions small and to be sure you are adhering to the guidelines/the things that have made you successful such as Protein first, no liquids with meals etc.

the NUT told me that the most important thing is to keep portions small so you don't get used to the idea of eating more.

Try eating 6 times a day...

7 am Big Breakfast

9 30 snack

12 00pm BIG lunch ex: Large chicken salad and a Soup on the side

3 pm Snack

6 pm dineer

9 pm (1 hour b4 bedtime) snack ex: Yogurt

Snacks can be: zip lock bag with 2 hand fulls of your favorite Cereal and grapes or berries, etc

oatmeal Cookies

fruits

1 sliced apple with a little honey on top

hummus

yogurt... plain or add grains, oats, granola, fruit, (whatever you like)

peanuts

popcorn (no butter or salt)

Eating every 2 1/2 to 3 hours will keep your body full and will make your brain realize that your eating all the time.

This way you have Snacks in between all ur meals... also if your going to eat something fatty like carbs eat it at lunch time because (assuming that you won't be laying down all day) your body will burn lunch as the day goes by. Good Luck! and hope this helps!

I agree with some of this - but not all. I do agree about eating six times per day. I say, stay away from cereal, Cookies, honey, and popcorn. Popcorn is a slider and you will have to eat far too much to gain a feeling of satiety. Honey is just processed as a simple sugar and is of no benefit to your body. Cookies and cereal are high in calories, high in carbs, and often don't have much Protein. They are usually high glycemic index foods, and will be processed quickly and won't leave you full for long. They can also create a craving for more, more and more.

If you aren't counting carbs you should still go for low glycemic index carbs. I do agree that an apple is a good snack in that case, and there are vegetables that would also fit the bill.

I know it is of limited help to talk about what won't work. I think that continuing to focus on dense Protein is important at every meal. Given that it sounds like you still have room to eat more, go for low glycemic veggies - asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, and celery all fit that bill. For snacks, one possibility is beef Jerky, as it is a lean dense protein. Just watch the salt - I weigh my serving out and track my overall salt intake. I have to agree that yogurt is a good way to end the day - Greek yogurt for sure though as the protein is much higher. I get Dannon's Light and Fit Greek Yogurt for 80 calories, 12 g protein, and 9 g carbs. I also sometimes carry a few ounces of plain chicken as an emergency snack - it does mean that I keep a cooler in the car, but it is a great low cal snack that is filling.

I have the same problem with hunger. I never lost the hunger, so I have been in hunger management mode since the beginning. At five months I am definitely beginning to see that it is getting harder.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
