This Might Seem Like A Stupid Question, But...

Recommended Posts

This morning I went to the YMCA for my first low-impact aerobics class. I'm using My Fitness Pal to track my progress and according to MFP I burned 532 calories during the class. So now in addition to the 900 calories I need to eat every day, I need to eat 532 more.

However, I've already eaten dinner and had a snack today and I'm 400 calories short. My Protein is at 103g, my carbs are at 45g.

Should I eat 400 more calories or just call it a day?

I ask this as we're planning on going bowling tonight and according to MFP you burn 191 calories per hour bowling and I want to play at least two games. So that would be even more calories it would tell me to eat and even if I get the additional 400 calories in, there's no way I can eat 800 more.

I always cut the number of calories burned in half when I attend a class. For instance, when I do the one hour step class, it says that I burn 900 calories, so I cut it down to 450. I would rather err on the side of caution, and not overdo it on eating more to cover the calorie expenditure.

Ok with MFP you do not have to eat the calories you burn off doing activity. They add it to your number of calories allowed for the day just to show you that with that exercise you can eat that many more calories. So no you do not have to eat the 400 calories. And if you dont eat those 400 calories then you will probably lose slightly more weight.

Sometimes I eat the extra calories and sometimes I don't...if I do am I shooting myself in the foot so to speak? Or am I still on the loosing side of the calorie counter? I am set at 683 calories/day and always want more (genuine hunger) and with my zumba I burn 561 more to add to that. I guess my question is if I eat them am I exercising to lose or just tp get to eat more?

As long as your calorie counter doesnt go red you are losing weight. Your body actually burns off more than the 561 calories you "burned" during exercise cause your metabolism stays high longer. so if you dont eat more than the 561 calories you will still burn fat and lose weight.

Well, ended up not going bowling, but I was still 400 calories under. After finishing my Muscle Milk, I was done. Tomorrow planning on going on a walk with my mom, so tomorrow will probably be under too. Woot!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
