Exercise And Weight Loss After Surgery

Recommended Posts

How much do you all think exercise plays a part in weight loss after surgery. it may seem like a stupid question, but won't you body hold onto more if you aren't eating much and exercising? Do you find that with more exercise you lose more? or does it not matter?

IMO, exercise is important after weight loss bc it helps keep our muscles toned and also exercise increases muscle mass. So as your losing weight, instead of lossing muscle mass, your building muscle mass too. It helps with burning calories etc. :)

Exercise helps speed up your metabolism. On it's own it doesn't make you lose weight but combined with diet it can help. It also strengthens your entire body including your heart and lungs. There are so many health benefits to exercise beyond just losing weight that it really should be part of your daily routine.

The role exeercize takes on is complex...but yes it is important - not absolutely necessary so if you cannot do much, it will still be worth it to do anything you can.

On a basic level, it gives you a sense of accomplishment, allows the body to work as it should, as it was designed to.

Long term exercize - even very light exercize - but in a routine consistent manner, has been shown to help the body "reset" a negative clock. You can literally reset your biological age with consistent exercize.

Lol - could go on about exercize, but I am at work! :/

I am over a month sleeved and still have not been given permission to exercise. I went to the dr yesterday and was given my new menu which includes solids now, finally!!!! But I still have to wait 2 more weeks to begin any type of exercise. Not sure the rationale but this is what I have been instructed to do.

One little thing I would like to share... I went to the gym yesterday for the first time since surgery. Amazingly I really ENJOYED it. I used to go every once in a while because I knew it was good for me but never really enjoyed it. Felt good but didn't enjoy it. Now, its a whole different feeling. Hard to explain. My body actually is responding differently to exercise. Kinda like a new body. Very weird. Totally took me by surprise. Anyone else experience this??

I am definitely not an expert on this, but I do try to exercise regularly, even if it is to get out and walk. I'm only down 50 pounds thus far (3 months out) and have quite a bit more to go. I believe that not only does the exercise increase your metabolism, it is also helping somewhat tighten up the bagging/sagging skin. I'm not sure your age, but for those of us over 50, the skin just isn't as elastic as it once was, and any help I can get on tightening up skin/muscles, I will definitely take it! Good luck!

Exercise is a VITAL part of overall health, not just weight loss. Being thinner and not obsessed with food can help you in being motivated in starting an exercise plan. I NEVER used to exercise and now I ride bike and swim a lot. I've NEVER been in this good a condition before.

It is possible to lose it just by diet but is a bit harder to do so. The benefits to your joints and overall health are important too.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
