What Were Your Best Foods To Eat Post Op

Are you adding Protein Powder to your pudding? I like to add two scoops Nature's Best Isopure unflavored Protein powder to the two cups skim milk and then mix the sugar free pudding mix into that. YUM! I think making the pudding is a bit healthier than buying the pudding cups premade.

Defintaly loved s/f pudding...didnt do well with applesauce. Loved sf pudding pops, sf Jello, chicken broth...once I moved on to solids stage...my favortie food was and still is turkey meatballs. At almost 2 years out I still have a Protein Shake just about everyday.

My fav. Pre-op dish was this omlette. I had a shake for Bkfst. snd lunch, this was dinner at least twice a week-so delish:

1 egg plus 2 liquid egg whites (3 egg total)

3 slices turkey bacon

1 cup fresh baby spinach

Nice size 'pinch' of grated cheddar cheese

Pam cooking spray

Heat skillet. Spray w/ Pam. Add turkey bacon. Cook 3-4 minutes, turn. Cook another 1-2 minutes. Cut bacon slices into pieces, return to pan. Add spinach, comer pan. Stir bacon and spinach til spinach is all wilted. Pour in eggs. Scramble or make omlette whatever you wish. Cook 2-3 mins till eggs are almost done cooking. Top with cheese. Cover pan and take off heat. Once cheese is melted...dinner is served! Lots of protein-very satisfying!

Campbell's Cheddar cheese Soup made with skim milk and slowly stirring in some Unjury unflavored Protein. I got tired of chicken bouillon, so I heated up some chicken noodle soup and strained the noodles and chicken out. So much more flavor than just bouillon.

Don't forget to check the "Where to Buy" link for the PB2. One of our local grocery stores has this in the health food section. At least you can save some $ by not paying shipping. Amazon.com might have it too. I've also read that some health food stores have the same type of thing, only cheaper, called peanut flour.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
