Hi Everybody,

I am new to posting on this site, although I have been lurking here for quite a long time. I am trying to have the surgery as soon as possible. I will be a self-pay person because my insurance has disallowed ANY type of weight loss surgery for any reason! I would love to know if anyone has used Dr. Adam Naaman in Houston. What did you think of him? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Jen. I just wanted to say welcome from a fellow Texan. I had my surgery last November and I'm thrilled with the results. This board has been a wonderful place for information and support. I'm glad you are here. Best of luck!

I am also a fellow Texan, but I have not heard of this Dr. I used Dr. Spivak and loved him. My surgery was done at Herman Hospital and I was treated like I was the only patient there that day. It was great. Surgery was done at about 10:00 in the morning and my husband and I drove up in the driveway at 5:30 that afternoon. And I live exactly one hour from Houston. Recovery was easy, but I had 2 Csections to compare this to, so it was really easy for me. I hope recovery will be as easy for you. Had mine on Wednesday, went Walmart shopping on Friday, grocery shopping on Saturday and went back to work on Monday. They barely new I was gone from work and most of the people had no idea I even had the surgery until the first 50# came off and people got curious.

Hi Jenn,

I'm also from Texas. I have not had surgery and am looking for a good surgeon. I live in the Texas panhandle, so Houston is a long way from me. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello, I am from Longview Texas and I found a Dr. Querry in marshall. I am not sure what part of Texas you are in, but we are in East Texas. I also know she has a program thru CapitalOne for people who need to self-pay. I hope this information helps you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
