1 Week Post Op, Why Have I Not Dropped Any More Pounds?

Recommended Posts

Scary! I am taking in enough fluids, working on protien intake. I don't ave any problems sipping up to 4 oz. In 15 minutes. I heard this is common. So why?.? And when should I see more loss? Sorry, having a freaking out moment that I am the "exception" to the rule...

This sounds like my story! I was sleeved a week ago also (10/9) and I feel like the 6 pounds lost is ridiculous! Seems like it should be more. But then again 6 is a great number to lose in 7 days. I don't know why either. Hopefully at least you know you're not alone. Good luck to us both

I only lost 5 pounds my first week! Don't worry it will come off! I'm at 6 weeks and have lost 24 pounds, slower than I thought I would be but I'll take it...

How long were you in the hospital? I was in 4 days and weighed more when I came home then I did the day I went for surgery because of all of the IV fluids. It does come off, don't worry!

I gained 40lbs not eating anything for 45 days. IV etc fluids and swelling cause weight gain. It's not real and for most it sticks around a bit the first week. For some longer even. You are also working on gettting your liquids and Protein up to speed. While you do, you body is popping into starvation mode and holding onto it's resources. Next week will be a lot more fun on the scale :)

Good luck to you Bella. I know the pounds will come off eventually. I go back to work next week and have been trying on my work clothes. Pants are very loose since I started this liquid diet almost 4 weeks ago, but the tops now fit the way they should. I guess I was wearing my clothes super tight!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
