Hey PRE-Banders...!

Recommended Posts

1) Shopping in a regular store for something other than accessories or shoes!!! No more plus sized section or Lane Bryant.

2) Not being embarrassed to take pictures anymore.

3) Riding an amusement park ride, especially a roller coaster.

4) Walking up stair and not feeling like I am going to die.

5) Wearing something sleeveless..

6) Getting a new bathing suit for the 1st time since I was in high school. And not having to get one w/shorts.

7) Wearing shorts to somewhere other than the gym.

8) Not having to worry about whether the desk in school will fit.

9) Getting a sports car and being comfortable.

This is just the beginning..I am sure I can think of tons more.

I'm looking forward to being slim again.... And STAYING that way. Being able to go into a clothes shop and just pick up my 'usual' size, instead of looking at what I weigh this month and choosing accordingly.

Being able to go hill walking and not wanting to die halfway up the mountain!

Hx

I am looking forward to wearing :

  • my wedding dress (16-18) for our 10th anniversary in March
  • skirts, especially straight cut skirts
  • matching, girlie underwear
  • tankini / bikini
  • clothes that don't match with anyone elses (there's always someone else in the same plus sized outfit - I hate that)
  • normal sized pantyhose and stockings
  • all of the fasionable things I can't buy or wear now

My panties NOT falling under my belly all day!

No more "granny" bras!

Pantyhose... Not being my husband's entertainment when I attempt to put these horrid things on!

Having a WAIST!!!!

OK, this sounds weird... but... I cannot wait to paint my own stinkin' toenails!

Booths at restaurants... 'nuf said...

Being able to order out of the "Corporatewear" catalog here at work and NOT worry whether it will be big enough!

There are many more things, but this is just a quick list....

Only two weeks before I become a bandster!!:clap2:

:) I'm looking forward to getting real about my weight!

I just realized .. my weight goal is not reasonable!! (I'm just venting here)

My weight should be 165 so why in the heck did I plan on 135??? I've never been 135!!

When I check the bmi scale for a person 5'9", 165 would put me at 24.4 - within a 'normal' range.

Oddly enough, I used to weight 165 and I thought I was fat! Of course, this was years ago before I figured out that I looked fine ... and just didn't know it. I wore a size 10/12 and still complained that I was too fat! It's a sickness folks!!

What I wouldn't do to be 165 again:faint:

Sorry to hyjack thread - just had to get that out!!! :)

I look forward to:

Being active - hiking, skiing, riding a bike, enjoying gym workouts, gardening

Being normal - crossing my legs, tucking in shirts, wearing heels, sleeveless tops, shopping for specialty wear (ski clothes, winter coats, swimsuits, cocktail dresses)

Being happier about myself - looking forward to going to the beach (1 week annual family reunion with in-laws who are all thin :) ), feeling desirable, attending husband's professional functions, more confidence in my profession

Reaching THE BIG GOAL - My dream vacation to New Zealand - look out Kiwis!!! (I am the one postponing this until I am a more normal size because I know I will have such a better experience if I wait)

And like others said, those are the ones I can think of right now.

Terri

dpingl - I too have big calves. The last time I bought ski boots the kindly sales(kid) described them as "athletic calves" Bless his young heart:)

I am reading these posts and nodding my head in agreement. I am very new in the process - my psych test is 11/1 and am waiting on insurance approval. This post is giving me lots of things to look forward to. Here's my list in no particular order:

-Crossing my legs

-Actually fastening the airplane seatbelt instead of hiding under a blanket and feigning sleep when the flight attendents walk by

-Cute clothes

-Tucking in shirts

-A much thinner face

-A more active life

-Not minding my picture being taken

-Being able to actually run

-Rewarding myself w/LASIK eye surgery when I reach my goal weight

Also, I too can remember being 150-160 and thinking/feeling I was HUGE. Oh, to be that "big" again...

I know we can all do this!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
