Kidney Pain With Protein Shakes?

Recommended Posts

A high Protein diet can be hard on the kidneys. Check with your doctor. I don't have any symptoms except for a very high ammonia content in my urine. Sorry if TMI, but it's something to be aware of.

Sounds to me like you have some kidney stones. High Protein, high Calcium, & high sugar diets are known to cause kidney stones.

We are all pretty much fit squarely into these categories. Sugar & Calcium before surgery, Protein & calcium after.

There are many natural treatments out there for this from apple cider vinegar, to olive oil & lemon juice. Or your doctor can laser them to break them up and make them passable(OUCH!)

Thanks All, I'm still pre-op but have started adding Protein Shakes to replace 1-2 meals a day to get accustomed. I'd never considered this before, but once I started having the pain... Yes, I get kidney stones, some have passed and others surgically removed.
