1 Month Out And I Stalled Already?

Recommended Posts

Does this happen this soon? I lost 28lbs in 2 1/2 weeks but I stopped loosing when I started purée. I'm not doing any Protein Shakes yet. My dr said its ok. Just heal but it's discouraging. I am still only having around 600 calories a day. Shouldn't I be losing with that alone? So frustrated. 2 weeks no weight loss :(

I so feel your pain. I stalled at 3 weeks and am currently stalled for 9 days. Everyone says that it will break and that we will continue to lose but right now it doesn't feel that way. It is so discouraging, even if I could lose a pound or two I would feel much better. I too hope that it ends soon, it really brings my mood down.

I have noticed in the past that when I hit the stalls (on other diets) it is usually then that by body was adjusting to the loss ithad already had & during that time I was losing inches. Have you tracked your inches, I like to do that & when a stall happens I would check them and found that this was what was happening to me. Don't get discouraged, you will start losing again.

I too feel your frustration...I went to a support meeting last night and they told me that stalls are common around the one month mark and it is your body adjusting. I lost 20 pounds pre op, my surgery was aug 27, in the first 3 weeks after I lost another 20 pounds and in the last 4 weeks i've only lost 4 pounds. I am happy with the total amount of weight lost but I was told I could expect to lose 2-4 pounds a week. I haven't meant that goal in a month...very frustrated, very disappointed, even wonder if it was worth it??? I am very bad for needing the number on the scale to move!lol I am trying to keep my head up and joined this community yesterday to receive extra encouragement, and talk with others who understand what I am going through. Hang in there...IT WILL PASS>IT HAS TOO lol

Stalls around then are normal. I dropped quickly in week 1 and 2. The next to nothing week 3 and 4. Now I'm at week 5 and have lost another 5 lbs! Woo hoo! Stay strong, keep getting in all your h2o and Protein and you WILL see results!

I can totally attest to the "Week 3" stall. I dropped 18 pounds the first 1.5 five weeks. Then my body went on a strike!!!! Hopefully that's over, because I hopped on the scale and was down 4 pounds overnight. I know stalls are a part of the process, but the sure do suck. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
