So I have had some trouble with getting enough exercise at home and I talked to my nurse practitioner today and she said I would be allowed to do karate since I am 4 weeks out now so I am joining tomorrow. Anyway I was wondering what are some of your most favorite ways to exercise?

I started doing Krav Maga recently. Similar to karate, but more practical and geared toward fitness and real-world self defense:

I also play tennis when I can, which is great for getting in shape. Short bursts of running, gives you time to get your wind vs. straight jogging.

Karate sounds great. What dicipline are you taking? I think I'd hold off on sparring for a few more weeks.

Karate is great exercise, fun too. Boxing workouts are great. I won't risk busting those incisions so I won't spar for a year at least, maybe more. When I can do crunches and push-ups without discomfort, it may be time to get it on.

My brother achieved 5th degree black belt staus in Tang Soo Do which he learned in Korea and ran a dojo for years in Iowa. He has spoken to Chuck Norris who was of the same discipline originally. He gave his little brother free lessons but I didn't learn enough to belt.

Now you got me thinking about starting up again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
