Socketpinch 15 Posted October 16, 2012 Now that I have started eating some things, I've been having cravings like pizza, fried chicken etc. Has anyone else had these cravings and what have you done about them. I just ignore them because I know I can't have that food.< /p>

VSG Duck 40 Posted October 16, 2012 Now that I have started eating some things' date=' I've been having cravings like pizza, fried chicken etc. Has anyone else had these cravings and what have you done about them. I just ignore them because I know I can't have that food.[/quote'] I am not quite at that point yet but I am wondering if a healthy version of these foods when you are craving them might help? Otherwise maybe eat your healthy foods (lean Proteins, veggies) first and see if have room for just a bite (or even still want it) at the end to satisfy the craving? Cravings can be hard 1 PEvette reacted to this
laceyb 31 Posted October 16, 2012 I was really craving orange chicken the other day so I looked for a healthy recipe. I could eat all of the ingredients so I made it. I just skipped the breading and frying it part. I just put the orange sauce on the baked pieces of chicken I had made, put it in the crock pot, and voila perfect solution to an otherwise unhealthy craving. sramos89 260 Posted October 16, 2012 I haven't had anything fried yet but I have had some other things and I just have one bite and I am good, I am satisfied and no ill effects so far. Today I had a bite of a hot dog from SAMs club, don't ask me why I wanted that but one bite that I tore into 10 tiny pieces and chewed and chewed into nothing and I was happy. bkz3 17 Posted October 16, 2012 I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow, still on "full liquids" only, looking forward to puree food! lol I have cravings for EVERYTHING right now, and I just ignore them because I know I can't have them yet. It's so hard, I've caught myself sometimes taking a small bite of something, chewing it, and then I spit it out because I don't dare swallow it for fear of doing damage. That sounds sad now that I write that, but I couldn't help myself, this is such a tough mental/emotional battle!
PEvette 297 Posted October 16, 2012 I equate cravings with head hunger....if you occupy yourself with something when it starts you are less likely to give in.... I wanted cheetos last week and bought a bag and poured out 1oz of them....I think I made it to 1/2 oz of them before I got sick.... Lesson: I will not touch another cheeto anytime soon! The same thing happened when I decided to eat a Jason's deli big chocolate chip cookie....it made me dump...I will not be touching another cookie anytime soon and dont mention cupcakes, cant stand the sight of them
jh5497 105 Posted October 16, 2012 I went through stages of weird cravings and then through stages of feeling repulsed by food. What helped me was figuring out was it emotional hunger ot head hunger (like one of my senses wanted it from seeing it in a commercial, on someone else's plate, smelling etc.). Once I realized which it was, I could indulge it a bit, or wait for it to pass depending on what I felt like and what the situation was. If I was bored, sad or lonely, I never ate because I figured out early on food in my limited stomach doesn't give me the same satisfaction that it used to. ppatterson 24 Posted October 16, 2012 I would try to make healthier versions of what you are craving. Tonight my husband and I were at Sam's. We found a kashi pizza. It still has carbs but they are healthy carbs and higher Protein. It was good and I was satisfied with a really small piece. I also made the cauliflower pizza. The recipe is on here.
