I want to hear what everybodys plans are for this weekend. Where are you going? who's cooking? but mostly, what are we eating?

This Sunday I will be heading to my Sisters in Toronto for a traditional Thanksgiving Turkey dinner. I will eat Turky and salad and Mashed pototoes all with gravy and maybe a little stuffing but I tend to get blocked if I eat bread so not a lot of stuffing. Oh ya, I will aslo pick up some wine likely a couple of bottles of Pinot Noir (Goes great with Turkey) and a couple of bottles of Gewurztraminer. I don't often drink Gewurztraminer but it goes exceptionaly well with Turkey.

On Saturday I will be heading up to Collingwood, my cousin is an artist and his show is starting this weekend so I plan to go and purchase a painting of his to put in my house. I do not have enough original art on my walls so I thought I would be nice to put up a piece from a relative.

Other than that I plan to spend as much time relaxing as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canucks Eh!!

Good thread.

Off to the mother-in-laws house. also there will be the step-dad-in-law and the actual father-in-law and step-mom-in-law. Whew. And the brother-in-law and his wife and child. All one big happy family (?). This happy (?) event will occur in Burlington....so we will be arriving Sat and leaving Sun. The M-I-L will do the cooking but will likely nab Mr Yoda to help (the curse of being a chef). What am I eating? Very little!!! It will be tricky ...none of them know about the surgery (nor will they ever know!)....so I will have to do the "move the food around the plate" bit. When I throw some out they will hopefully just think that perhaps that was my second helping and I merely didn't eat it all!!

I'm curious to see is they notice any weight loss.

What about you Cloe? You never said.

Tommy....I live in Fenelon Falls but my "Family" cottage is in the Collingwood area...just 6 miles down 26 towards Thornbury....right across from Georgian Peaks Ski hills.

Yoda: I can totally sympathize with your husband....that is why this year hubby and I are doing the Thanksgiving thing at the Delta Pinestone in Haliburton...going to have a quick over-nighter.

Usually we go to the in-laws but my M-I-L and S-I-L do not cook, their idea of dinner at any time is putting on the buffet pants and making a quick trip to the Chinese buffet.......YUK!!!! We have nothing against Chinese buffet...but not for TG!

So, if we want a traditional Thanksgiving, Easter, or Christmas dinner we have to shop for, transport, cook, serve, and clean up after the dinner....which means...since we own a restaurant and Al is the Chef...WE NEVER GET A F****** BREAK!

The past few months have been so stressful for us, I moved the gym to a better location but the new unit took a lot of physical work to get it ready for the move....and at the same time we attempted to keep the restaurant up and running. I put my foot down this year and I said NO WAY to travelling to TO to have TG with the in-laws......so we are treating ourselves to this little getaway.

Whoops, how did I miss this? I was looking for somewhere to brag about my Thanksgiving.

Originally, Dan and I just planned to make ourselves a little dinner..... but that friend of ours doesn't have anyone here, and I didn't think it would be right, leaving her alone for Thanksgiving. So we invited her.

I got a little ham, just enough for the 3 of us. I made my favorites: stove top stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy. She brought over caesar salad and garlic bread. I made a concious effort to drink HOT tea just before... and even a couple sips DURING, cause I wanted to make damn sure I could eat my stuff! Well... I ate ALMOST all of what I took. I didn't get to eat more than 2 bites of my ham, just because everything else was too good, and I left it for last. I was very proud of my ham... it turned out reeeally good. I thought it would be really dry, being in the oven for 3 hours, but it wasn't! WOO! Yay for me, cooking my first real 'dinner'. Well... Thanksgiving dinner.< /p>

Then.... maybe an hour minutes later, I even had a small piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream! Yummy!

A turkey would have been nice... but waaay too much work for me, and probably way too much food. Oh well...

I am still on full liquids and I CHEATED :angry I ate like a piggly wiggly:think

I suck. I felt so shitty afterwards. Gut ache. and guilty. I was so hungry from not being prepared. We drove to my family home 4 hours away. Was starving when arrived. Didn't tell family other than sister about surgery and she wasn't there. So I ate food. boo hoo.

I was so uncomfortable and had to hide it but it didn't even stop me. Bad me bad bad me :)

OK I am over it now. I will be good from now on.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
