Almost 4 Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

It will be 4 weeks since I had my sleeve (sep 21) & so far its been great. I am down 37 pounds & feel great. Not hungry & no pain to speak of. I have a couple of questions ...... I am still having trouble getting down my Protein shakes...I get to full..I am eating soft foods still like baked fish, mashed potatoes, Soup, greek yougurt stuff like that. I am supposed to keep track of how much protein I am getting. Any suggestions on how to "track" protein when you dont eat all of what your supposed to?? Also, Has anyone ever drank the lipton diet green tea? I was wondering if that was ok to drink since its not carbonated. One other thing..I cannot chew the multi Vitamin any longer...It makes me sick!! Its so chalky. Any suggestions on what other kind of multi vitamin thats good? How much longer do I have to chew the vitamin...can I just swallow them? I know its a lot of questions..but was curious.

Thanks for you input :)

Hey sleeve sister!! I started out with liquid multi complete from Walgreens (Walgreens brand) and once I could do chewables I switched. I really, really don't like the chewables at all. I kinda gag on them. I found myself going back to the liquid. It doesn't taste bad if you keep it chilled. I use chewables in AM and liquid at night until I run out of chewables. Then pretty sure I am going to use liquid all the time. It's just so easy to get in. And I need easy. :)

I switched back to my regular pill form of multi since I couldnt bare the sweetness of the chew. It goes down just fine :) Myfitnesspal.com tracks your protien, fat, carbs and calories. My surgeon suggest to continue tracking calories until you get to goal.

Congratulations on your 37 lbs. I drink Medifast dark chocolate powdered shakes. I make them with Water and ice and they taste like frozen hot chocolate.< /p>

You can trace your Protein, fat, sodium, calories etc on www.Livestrong.com. The site does it all for you and it even calculates your exercise.

As far as a multi-Vitamin, I take One-A-Day Vitacraves. They are gummies and are yummy. Take two gummies a day.

I'm not sure about the green tea. I'm pretty sure it's okay. As long as it doesn't have any caffeine.

Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
