Oct 1Was My Operation

Recommended Posts

I have to be honest, I haven't been told to go on my soft diet and I began to eat saltine crackers. I have lost32 pounds already and have been walking. When would I be able to exercise?

I have been walking 2 miles a day on the treadmill, eating 3 meals and 2 Snacks ( usually a Protein bar) I drink lots of crystal light all day. I'm going to start back to Zumba next week.

I travel a lot for work, so food can be a challenge. I make all my food with me for the week. I've been making all recipes in muffin tins for Portion Control.< /p>

I know the lack of exercise is what made me "fluffy" to begin with. As much as I loathe to exercise , I have to admit it has made a huge difference. Plus I feel great after I do it. Once you get into a routine you will get into it!

Hey all. I too had my surgery on 10/1. I'm down 35 lbs total from the beginning of my 2 week pre op diet till today. 18 lbs from day of surgery. I began walking 8 hrs after surgery and I try to walk everyday. I was cleared at my one week post op for salsa dancing and I now dance twice a week. Looking forward to getting cleared for lifting weights in another 3.5 weeks.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
