StarMom2 1 Posted October 15, 2012 Does anyone know if you can use an HSA account for surgery in Mexico? It works just like a regular bank account. We have a credit card and a checks in order to access the money in the account. As far as I know, we can use it for any medical bills. However, I am not positive about using it for international surgery. I intend to contact our tax guy this week, but I thought some of you may know. Thanks! Jersrose43 837 Posted October 26, 2014 I believe you can. Have the clinic charge your card a small amount to ensure to works when you get there The cards are tied to types of locations. It prevents you from using it for gas or beauty salons. Etc.

healthierhappierme 14 Posted November 6, 2014 I used my HSA - just had to let the account know ahead of time that I was going to debit my account for a "non-typical" amount for me.
