Ahhhh Why Am I So Hungry!

Recommended Posts

I think it's pretty common to feel like that in the first couple weeks especially. I remember just wanting to chew something so bad! Mine was ALOT head hunger from boredom... also if you aren't already definitely talk to your doctor about taking a PPI. I felt very hungry when I was taking the Protonix that the surgeon sent me home with.. but when I ran out and started taking my Prilosec again the hunger STOPPED. No joke. I keep reading that alot of times what we interpret as hunger is actually too much acid in our stomachs.. just something to look into ;)

I was sleeved on 10/09/12 and I have been eating tuna and it has been very satisfying. I eat raw spinach and haven't had any problem I just over chew it and eat maybe 3 leaves and I'm ok. The Protein has really help stop the hunger for me.

congratulations...We were sleeved on the day...however my doctor doesn't let me have eggs or tuna till two weeks out. What else do you eat and how does it go down?

Did your surgeon say it was ok to eat that? If so I need a new one because mine wants his patients on a carb strict diet.

I'm not suppose to eat many carbs either

Potato Soup is on mines...and I'm not having any problems. I can have low carbs from my shakes to my Soups. Tomorrow is one week for me and I have lost 12 Ibs. I walk 30 mins and I feel great.

Please watch the MSG in the Soups you eat. I didn't realize how sensitive I was to it but it will make you hungry. It is in almost every Soup, salad dressing, chips. Etc. really made me mad when I started reading about other names for it and checking labels. I had some beef Jerky the other day and soon after I felt hungry. I checked the label and sure enough, it had MSG. Please read up on it because it causes our bodies to want to continue to eat. When I started reading labels and cutting it out of foods I was eating, I not only was not hungry, I started seeing the scales move again.

I really didn't move to low carb until after the six weeks and release to solids as it seems the consistency of food is the focus in the early weeks, as well as Protein, so having creamy Soups made with milk serves two purposes, and the same with thinned out hot cereals, and refried Beans. Now I rarely eat Beans while I am still working to get to goal because of the excessive carbs.

Back to the original poster...I did thicken up my hot Cereal a bit to deal with hunger during this stage and it helped me before I moved to the pureed and then soft stages of eating. I did not have any trouble moving forward with my foods, I really enjoyed mashed potatoes with canned chicken and chicken gravy in the early days and Wendy's chili with melted cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese with canned (soft) fruit. Just go slowly, and eat more frequently if you have to. You are still consuming way less calories and you will still lose weight, we need food to heal and don't try and starve, you will lose all your energy.

Good luck!!

I had 80g of Protein and under 25 carbs yesterday. I was NOT hungry at all. That is a lot more protein than I usually consume, but I felt like my body needed something and instead of eating my way through it I looked at my diet to see what types of healthier options might work.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
