Fell Off The Wagon

Recommended Posts

Holy crap first vacation after being sleeved 6 months ago. As you can tell from the title of this post, it was a little more challenging that I thought it would be. I gained 4 pounds, ate so much I am worried I stretched my sleeve. New Orleans had so many delicious foods and I had terrible will power. I was shocked, I thought my little tool would win but instead my freaking head did. Now it is going to take me a few weeks to undue what I did in 5 freaking days. Lesson learned, a "little bit" still can not be controled so it is best to just stay away from it.

Don't beat yourself up! I understand that worry that you probably have about still not being able to control what you eat! BUT....the sleeve does help to keep it all in perspective even if you do "fall off the wagon" once in awhile, like when you are on a vacation. I think that is real life. I think that people do tend to indulge a little more on a vacation and gain a few pounds and that's OK. The difference is that the sleeve will prevent you from doing that every day like you did before the surgery!I know I had no control whatsoever before the sleeve, so I LOVE that it will stop me from being 275 pounds ever again!

I noticed after I went away for the weekend and ate more of the things I shouldn't (carbs) and less of what I should (protein) that my capacity to eat increased! I could eat more suddenly this week and it scared me too!

I also had some diet soda last weekend and someone told me that drinking carbonated beverages will stretch your sleeve!!

Do you or anybody know if there is any truth to that?

I am like you and wonder if some of this is "head" related and not stomach related!

Anyway sorry you gained. That sucks.

It will probably come off pretty quickly once you get back to your routine I bet! Good luck!

(This post has been aborted by the BS police, this guy has been off the wagon many times, please disregard his bologna)

Shock! Ummm honey you're kinda like a normal thin person now. Think back six months.....would you have come back, weighed yourself and then immediately started planning how to get rid of those extra pounds?

Yeah, skinny people never indulge when in N'Orleans on vacation. Wow, you almost sound like a normal person. Who would have thought that might occur with the sleeve?

Futureskinnyperson, I have also heard soda will stretch your sleeve. That is one thing I have not even attempted since the sleeve. So I guess my head does not win all the arguments:-)

If you don't want to keep getting on the wagon - just don't ever get off.

This term was adapted from a motivation poster I saw about starting over -

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
