AdeptDreamer 104 Posted October 13, 2012 Your only 2 days post-op, how long were you in the hospital? I'm pre op and what I gather from here is make sure you take SLOW and TINY sips, check if you like your liquids cold/hot/room temp? Also are you on any heartburn meds? Like Prilosec, Nexium? And remember your stomach is soo raw right now, it will get better And don't forget to call your surgeon and don't feel like your being a bother! I hope you get better
aprilcarrie 6 Posted October 13, 2012 I was in the hospital up until this morning I'm not on any heartburn meds just a liquid pain killer
GeauxForIt 659 Posted October 13, 2012 I was in the hospital up until this morning I'm not on any heartburn meds just a liquid pain killer Could it be the painkiller making you nauseous? For sine reason lemonade is a lifesaver for me when I'm feeling icky. Maybe you can try some of the Crystal Light lemonade in your Water. I hope you feel better! Annie B 89 Posted October 13, 2012 Great question about the pain meds - they can definitely cause nausea. Lemon drops (hard candy, sugar free) can help with nausea, and warm lemonade can hep with gas pains. I hope you feel better very quickly - nausea is just miserable. Skittle 26 Posted October 13, 2012 I had bad nausea 10 days out.. Doc gave me some Zofran and it helped some. I had the nausea for 6 weeks and its been maybe a week without it, but did feel the nausea again for the past couple days. Make sure you are taking Prilosec or Prevacid to keep stomach acid low.. When I didn't take mine the nausea was worse. Good luck and I hope you feel better!!
aprilcarrie 6 Posted October 14, 2012 i definitely think it is the pain meds it seems like i can either take them and throw up or not take them and be in pain, does anyone know anything other than liquid roxicet that i could ask him to write me a prescription for?..the doctor didnt give me anything for stomach acid can i just go to the store and buy something or is it prescription only? Skittle 26 Posted October 14, 2012 I use Prevacid for the acid blocker it's over the counter. You can also get OTC Prilosec. As for pain meds I was on Tramadol for pain just after the surgery.
