imgonnaloseit! 30 Posted October 12, 2012 hair loss is something I researched extensively prior to surgery. Biotin is supposed to help slow it down. Best to start taking 8 weeks post op. Are ya'll getting your Protein in? 1 lessofmeismore reacted to this

Annie B 89 Posted October 12, 2012 You lose hair down to bald spots? This is not good news. Has anyone NOT experienced significant Hair loss? My nutritionist info said it happens between 4-6 months but I'm wondering how bad it is?

HalfTheWoman 107 Posted October 13, 2012 Mine is pretty bad and I am almost 4 months out and pray it won't get any worse...my is very thin on top and front. I am taking Vitamins and getting my Protein. I don't want to cut it but may have to.
kflan 27 Posted October 13, 2012 My nutritionist said that she sees little to no Hair loss in patients who are getting in enough Protein. Once I have my surgery, she wants me to eat around 64 grams/day (amt. is based on height/weight). She used to work in a different hospital where the bariatric surgeons didn't require Protein Shakes everyday, and she saw way more hair loss. That being said, I've heard it's definitely not permanent and will get better!
Cookeeeeez 269 Posted October 13, 2012 If you get full bald Patches (alopecia areata) you can see a dermatologist for a topical steroidal cream or even injections. Other than that, Protein, possibly some Biotin in your Multivitamin, and an increase in nutrient-dense calories will help over the long term
