Had my 3 month post-op check on September 19th (more like 3 1/2 months) and had lost a total of 75 pounds. Since then... I've lost nothing, nada, zip, zilch, nothing.

My brain knows all the logical reasons... rapid weight loss up front, body readjusting, etc. But my emotional part of me is in sheer panic that i'm done losing weight. :blink:

I'm really working on my Protein intake, pushing fluids and changing up my work outs. If something doesn't give soon, I may just break down and cry. My surgeon's goal for me is 100 grams of Protein a day with no more than 80 grams of carbs. I aim for 80 oz of fluids.

Just looking for some encouragement.

You are doing wonderful!!!

I hope that I'm where you are in 3 1/2 months. My one month was today and I've only lost 17 pounds. Very discouraging!!!!

You did say something that makes me rethink my Protein. I'm currently only getting about 70 grams a day. Now I'm wondering if I up it will I loose more weight. I've been worried that taking in more means that my calories will also be increased.

Can some one please tell me what my Protein, carbs and calories should be at this stage?

I asked my Doctor at my two week post op and he just said to not worry about the amount if protein just to focus on getting all of 64 oz fluids in. I don't see him for a few more weeks.

Help!!!

Your doc is right..... Just focus on fluids at this point, drink Protein Shakes because they count as fluids too. You can't possibly be getting in enough calories right now to stop your weight loss. It will come off, it just takes time. Take a deep breath and exhale when getting worried about weight loss. It is a wise ideal to avoid dehydration at all cost. It's a horrible and scarey feeling. :)

Well cardio increases ines metabolism so if you want to see a change in your weight loss you may want to evaluate your carb intake as well as increase the amount of cardio activity that you are getting.

Firstly I would like to congratulate you on your 75 pound weight loss, amazing!! I know exactly how you feel and I am only 32 days out and am on a big stall and have even gained weight. Think of how fantastic you look, your milestones that you have achieved(smaller sizes, feel great). If the weight is meant to come off it will. As someone said to me this is a marathon not a race, so don't attach a time limit to it. You have been very successful and you will lose the weight, hang in there!!

I am at the same spot as you but I know what is going on. I am not exercising as much as I should and sometimes I don't get enough food. I still do knowwhat the full feeling is, so I stop after a few bites. Too jump start I fasted for one day then went on liquid and the next day I started weighing everything I ate or drank. Now I am doing weight watchers to help me better plan my meal.

Because this is just a tool and not a mircle I have to work at it every day. Just today was hard for me, I live in New York and I was at 34th and Penn Station I was walking by my favorite food places and had to tell my self you don't have money for that and you really can't fit that in your intake budget. I thank god I made it thru that walk.

What I am saying is you may have to change things up now and then but you always have to work at it

Your doc is right. Until you are getting in all your fluids daily (with no problem) you shouldn't worry about the rest. This is especially true if you're not even on full foods.

Now, once you have gotten to that point, a good rule of thumb is....40% Protein, 30% carbs, 30% fat. I don't know what your calorie goal will be but these averages just about cover anyone....and it's something you can maintain for life. Another way of looking at is, 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories. So 500 calories a day means you need 50 grams of protein. The rest of your calories should be split about evenly between carbs and fat.

Keep in mind that's just a general guideline. Your doc may tell you something different.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I know it will start.

My exercise routine is 4 days a week of 30 minutes on the elliptical (evil machine) and then about 45 minutes lifting weights. I lift light weights and do 3 sets of 10 reps through the entire circuit at our gym. I feel like I need to add cardio on my other days even if it's just a nice long walk around the block.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
