Will I be able to climb one flight of stairs to the bedroom when I get home? I really do not have any place on the main floor to have a bed so am hoping that stairs are not that big of an issue. I have a comfy recliner on main floor..no full length sofa. Will I be good through the day with the recliner so that I'd only need to go upstairs at night, or do most people feel the need to lie down multiple times a day immediately following surgery? If I need to make different arrangements, I need to know long before surgery time to figure out where and what will work to change things up.

Thanks so much for your thoughts.

I was wondering the same thing. Not about the stairs to bedroom. My bed is high so I am thinking of buying a recliner because It may hurt when getting up. Hope others who have had the surgery reply

I heard that the pain is less then a C-section. I had one and that is good to hear but it was 21 years ago lol!!! Good luck..

I didn't have any troubles with going and up and down my stairs. I did take them slow...but it was fine. I also have a tall bed and that was a bit of a challenge. We actually moved the bench to my vanity over and used it to sort of "climb" up. Even that was only for the first couple of days though. Good luck to both of you!

Climbing up stairs should not be an issue at all. And many people sleep in their recliners the first couple of nights, so I'm sure your setup will work just fine.

The pain is localized in your belly area, in fact many people describe it as having done 1000 pushups. Having a high bed really shouldn't make a difference. It's the sitting up to get off the bed (at any height) that hurts. Always try to tuck your legs up and roll. Sitting directly up will hurt.

Good news for me that stairs are not a big issue post-op! I have 14 to go up and down to my bedroom! Yikes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
