shayv123 96 Posted October 13, 2012 Dr. Smith is doing the same with me by preforming the test while I'm still on the table. I have complete faith in him and if he says this is the best way then I'm ok with it. He has not had a single leak in 2+ years. He also uses extra clasps and glue to prevent leaks. I'm classified as outpatient for my insurance. However' date=' if I don't feel up to leaving at the 23 hour mark then I'm more then welcome to stay. Outpatient vs inpatient has nothing to do with the quality of care you receive but how long you will be in the hospital. My insurance will only accept outpatient classification for the precert.[/quote'] You are correct. I spoke with the surgeon today, and I am VERY comfortable with him and staff regarding my care. I don't have to leave until both they and I are comfortable to do so.
jillb 45 Posted October 14, 2012 My Dr. says I should be able to leave the same day. My surgery is Wed @ 7:30. He said he will do the swallow text before I leave. It all depends on how I feel and how he feels at the time. Ins. covers an overnight stay or two. I am trying to decide if I should just tell him I want to stay.. or just go home. Guess we will see at the time. I have used this surgeon for stomach surgery before for reflux and am very confident in him.
Grek79Ital 18 Posted October 14, 2012 I was sleeved on 9/18 and released 9/19, no drain, did leak test with x-ray on 9/19, had liquids afterwards and then pureed food, then sent home.
