when did u have surgery?!

its probably best if you don't eat any meat until you're 4-6 months out. Only because, you will run the risk of stretchy your sleeve and/or experience horrible Constipation. And as for me, I can't have gravy or sauces on anything it makes me very nauseous, hahaha! is it the same for anyone else?!

My program allows pureed meats the 3rd week after surgery. Each program is different of course, but a chicken patty would be way too much for me to handle yet (I'm 4 1/2 weeks post).

It's TOUGH to pace myself and to limit what I try but I think that by following my surgeon's conservative guidelines, I'm setting myself up for future long-term success.

I have Anthem blue Cross and I'm not allowed to eat meat until my 4th month out. :/ haha, but good for you guys if you can. I mean, I take tiny itty bitty bites of small turkey ground beef and it hurts me, but I've been feeling better. and Letia, I hope you're feeling better too. I know ur recovery hasn't been amazing, but it will :D

I'm so glad you found something that works for you. I'm only one week out but craving meat like crazy. Your "meal" sounds really good!

Sounds gross but try mixing some baby pureed meats in with your cream Soup. Hot soup felt so good in my sleeve at the beginning and it will help with Protein.< /p>

That's not necessarily true. My surgeon and NUT sends patients home on puréed meat x2 weeks then soft moist meats/protein x4 weeks then any protein/meat after that. No veggies til week 9, no fruit til week 12, and no dairy til month 6. I have not had any probs with constipation. Oh, and no starches til 6 months.

Isn't it funny how diff they all are? Mine allows potato Soup (in hospital) and I couldn't make it without yogurt and milk. I think bananas are allowed week 6 or so (i had to start all over with my second surgery so while I'm past week six on the first go around, I never made it to that)

They really are all so different, I was cleared to try anything at 5 weeks. (except carbonation and alcohol, 3 months on those)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
