Can't Wait To Divorce My Gall Bladder!

Recommended Posts

Yes...I'm actually excited about this! It's been quite an adventurous month with this pain in the a$$ gall bladder of mine. I've had 2 trips to the ER, an endoscopy, an ERCP, and was within minutes of getting this surgery 2 weeks ago just to be cancelled at the last minute. I had my last gall bladder attack this past weekend that lasted 2 days. (I hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying I had my last attack because there's still time for another one!) I just can't wait for this to be over. It's just not fun living in fear of another attack. As an added bonus I am getting my Lapland removed as well. I made the decision to get the sleeve an that surgery is scheduled for Dec 10th. I've had my band for 4 years and it has slipped so it's time to get rid of it!

I divorced my gallbladder in 2010. I remember the pain well. You'll be so much happier when it's out!

I just had my gallbladder out about two weeks ago. Took three trips to the Er and then a visit with GI doctor an then an upper endoscopy and then another more specialized endoscopy... Not to mention the X-ray, ultrasound, blood work and EKG done in the hospital during Er visits.

Finally... It was determined that it was my gallbladder.

After it was taken out they sent it away to be examined and they said that it was full of stones (Ew)

I have been pain free since.

I said... So I wasn't making it all up?!!!

The pain was debilitating and just horribly awful. Worst pain ever.

Good luck

I'm very lucky that mine will be taken out when I am sleeved on 11/6. Anyone that has suffered through an attack knows it is something you never want to do again. I've had stones for years, but only became symptomatic about 2 years ago. The prospect of pending gall bladder surgery was actually a catlyst to move forward with the sleeve. Kill two birds...

Good luck!!!

I had my gallbladder out in 2010 and the attacks where horrible, my PCP at the time keep trying to treat me for heartburn and I repeatedly told him it wasnt until finally I went for an ultrasound and upper gi and they saw the stones and they were blocking the bial ducks causing the attacks and would wake me up out of a dead sleep, so glad it is out of my life forever! hehe

Mine is coming out next week! I was hoping to have it out at the same time as my wls, but it is severely infected now and honestly I am in so much pain I just wait out!!!! I always joke that my stomach is trying to kill me, between the gall attacks and the diverticulitis it really feels that way sometimes.

My date is 10/23. Dr says he may take out my gallbladder too because ultra sound shows gallstones. I was surprised because I have no symptoms or pain at all.

My surgery date is November 14th and at my last pre op appointment the nurse is explaining everything to me one last time and she was looking at the computer and goes 'oh and by the way your gallbladder is full of stones incase you didn't know' and I was like WHAT? lol I had an ultrasound back in July and no one told me I had gallstones- first u was hearing of this lol. I'm fortunate that I havent had any pain from it but Im preparing myself for an issue after surgery. She said if I have a problem with it after surgery I might have to have it removed, so we'll see I guess lol

I went through the dumping for 3 years, after having mine removed. Now, I'm good if I go twice a week after the sleeve.

Surgery went very well! I'm so happy it's over. I had no nausea from the anesthesia at all which was what was frightening me the most. They gave me a patch behind my ear before surgery and anti nausea meds before i woke up from surgery. The Dr said my gall bladder was very inflamed and enlarged. So far the pain isn't too bad. I just went 12 hours without a pain pill but decided to take it because one of the incisions is bothering me a bit. Definitely not too bad overall though. I am on a clear liquid diet today and can go back to eating slowly tomorrow. I'm not really even hungry anyway. My Lapland was also removed do I'm interested in seeing how life is without it. I have until Dec 10th to get my sleeve so I am going to try not to gain weight in the meantime.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
