Any Jersey Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Truth,

I am so sorry about your complications? My question is why would you have malabsorption with the sleeve since it isn't rerouting like a bypass? If you are eating the right things you should be getting the right amount of food, probably the amount were designed to get not the amount most of us eat?

I had the VSG in July and I have already lost 124 pounds.....all went so well....until, I felt a parathesia in October--went to ER in NYC....still have no feeling in my abdomen and inner portion of my thighs and legs....the worst part is now I have SEVERE and Intractable PAIN in my feet.....the neurologist did an EMG and a biopsy...all returned normal......the Vitamin level blookwork is also normal....no one know why this has happened....? In ready the mayo CLINIC and NIH website and journals......it seems that there are a small amount of people who have this issue...it might be related to a mal absorbtion issue......?The neurologist gave me neurontin...does not help.......anyoe else have these issues....?

Thanks so much......I feel as if someone is passing the buck......the neurologist said to return to the gastroenterologist..... and he said he does not feel that there is any mal absorbsion issues....I am taking the Vitamins and eating as best as I am able.....not sure if I should call and see the surgeon again ?The mayo Clinic and NIH studies do say that it is unusual to have these issues post VSG however and small percent of people do.....and it seems as if I have peripheral Neuropathy......thinking about consulting someone at Columbia Presbytarian in NYC or the Univ. of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia....it is so frustrating...the surgery went well......,,,thanks for the support...I have some MRI studies.....already found some bulging/herniated discs.... I have a thorasic MRI on wednesday to see if there are any more discs that are bulging or herniated....? After I had the surgery and started to lose the weight--I went to the gym and had a trainer help me....something might have happened there ?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
