How long before you guys were able to eat fruit like apples, oranges, and melon? I have ALWAYS loved fruit and I can't not wait until I can have my favorite honeycrisp apples!

This is my one short term "bummer" issue with this sleeve- fruit.

Dr/NUT says no fruit till I'm done loosing. I have 10 varieties of fruit trees in my yard and it was KIlLLING me to not eat off them!

When I did cheat and eat fruit (even moderate amounts) I stalled like a car out of gas..... Not worth it.

I figure next year after goall is hit I can go back to that old "apple a day" habit!

Save it for now and enjoy the "fruits of your labor" while the loss is rapid!

That's what I'm afraid of:(. I really enjoy fruits and its really the only thing I really craving. I got sleeved on 9/19 and my taste buds have changed so much to the point I hate a lot of stuff I used to like except fruit. I'm still craving it:(

I was told watermelon is ok as long as I can tolerate it and because it has so much Water in it, it can help with keeping hydrated. And fruit that comes in those little dishes (water or sugar free)

As long as you chew thoroughly you should be good about 6-8 weeks post op. Just remember you need that tummy room for Protein etc first. That should get in your way a little... chew chew chew hehe

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
