Quick And Easy 20 Gram Protein Shake

Recommended Posts

Take a cup of skim or 1% milk and put it in a shaker cup, add a half a cup of fat free unflavored greek yogurt - add 2 squeezes of Mio - I used berry Pomegranate flavor. It was delicious.

Almost 20 grams of Protein - 19.5 grams of Protein

That's a great idea, thanks! I'm pre-op but trying to get used to regularly ingesting 75g of clean Protein. 3 of those daily would almost get me there -- & w/o soaking up most of my daily calories. :}

If you use Mootopia it is a fortified lactose free 1/2 sugars milk...cuts calories but ups the protien - a cup is 12g protien.

consider freezing cantelope and strawberries, grapes, apples, peaches, berry mixes...and get a GOOD blender - you need alot of crushing power but needs strong vertical motion & also MUST be easy to clean and I recommend glass, too -

now, get unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and a low-sugar juice - tropicana now has 50/50 which is half the sugars...experiment until you get a frothy brew you like! - you are almost guaranteed to find one :)

I got a Ninja for my bday bc I had a hunch it would come in handy for this, & not the most expensive one either, AND IT IS WONDERFUL!!! We do fruit smoothies all the time now instead of other Desserts.

Mio is flavor you squirt into Water to make a flavored water drink. I have Berry Pomegranate, fruit Punch and strawberry Watermelon .

http://www.kraftbrands.com/mio/ - it's at the grocery store with the Crystal Lite.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
