lovex5 25 Posted October 11, 2012 My surgery is in 2 weeks and we have to move later next year. The surgeon at the seminar commented that a general surgeon can follow a bariatric patient, if they want. Everyone knows moves happen in the military so I figured I can't be the only bariatric patient to go through this. There isnt a bariatric clinic where we are going but they have general surgery. I called the post hospital and asked for general surgery. I told the lady the situation and asked if they would see me. She said probably not but she would ask the head nurse. She came back on the line and told me that I need to follow up with my original surgeon. So I'm expected to drive 1400mi round trip every so often for follow ups? This doesn't sound right to me. Have any of yall been through something similar? I have heard it's hard to get a new bariatric surgeon if someone else does your surgery but I figured the military would be a little more accomodating since they know how frequently people move.
