I have had a salad about 3 months ago - so about 6 months out...it did not like my tummy and I was uncomfortable until it passed.

I was cleared to try anything at 5 weeks. I tried salad about then and tolerated it ok, just couldn't eat much of course.

I actually had my first salad last night. we were out for Sushi and I had a miso Soup and a house ginger salad. I was nervous, but it went fine. I didn't feel any different and I think it actually help me digest (TMI-I went #2 last night and this morning and that is alot for right now) I am 2 months and a few days out. I ate probably like 7 bites and it was ice burg lettuce, carrots and ginger dressing.

well the small salad I had today (3 bites) was fine - no issues so far. However, the dressing I put on was a thyme vinagrette and it literally tasted and smelled like DIRT....OMG it was awful - so I ate a little without the dressing (since I put the dressing on the 3 pieces of chicken since they looked dry). So now I'm under the day for Protein and will make it up at dinner tonight. Oh well...thanks for all your replies!

I eat salad about 3 to 4 times a week now. I started to be ok with it at 6 months out. I eat a variety of greens in my salad and include carrots. No celery. Can't handle that...too stringy. Cucumbers are good in it though. I also add either tuna, chicken, egg or I also make ground turkey with taco seasoning and eat the salad as a taco salad. Ground beef and me don't get along!!! When I do my turkey taco salad, I also add some thin sliced avacado to it, some cheese and a bit of salsa. Good luck.

A spinach salad with almonds, craisins and gorgonzola was almost a daily meal for me pre-op. Can't wait to incorporate that back into my diet @ 3 months post op.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
