Whey Protein

Recommended Posts

Unjury is a medical grade, high quality whey Protein with 3 carbs or less in all flavors.

Synthrax Nectars are low carb and come in tons of flavors. Both brands sell sample packs so you can try before committing to a canister. Finally, smoothie King Gladiator has 1 gram per serving and comes in under 90 calories. My favorites are Unjury unflavored and chocolate Splendor, Synthrax Cappuccino and Cookies 'n cream, and Gladiator vanilla (in a strawberry banana smoothie!)

Just finished off a bottle of Grape Frost Isopure. Each bottle is 160 calories. The label reads... 100% PURE 0% CARBS. A carb free drink that's packed with 100% whey Protein isolate and 100% awesome taste. All with 0% lactose, fat, preservatives or impurities. Drink up.

(Personal opinion... These taste the best of everything else I've tried. So far Grape Frost and Orange, pineapple and Banana are the best tasting for me.) Strongly recommend them due to the nutritional information. Only takes a while to finish one and they count toward Fluid intake plus help out on Protein. Can't beat that! Enjoy!

Isopure not sure if whey but low carb and no sugar

Isopure Ready-to-Drink are Whey. Another one I like is by Cytosport - whey isolate Protein Drink. Comes is Tropical, Tangarine and Watermelon. A 16.9 oz bottle has 130 calories, 32 gr Protein, 1 gr carbs. I found this at Vitamin Shoppe. I've also heard you can get it at costco.< /p>

Isopuke RTD's were NOT good IMO. Now every taste differs (and after surgery, taste changes, fyi to whomever might be reading this and didn't know). I loved the Cytosport RTD's in tropical and tangerine, watermelon yuck was like a Protein bullet to me. Those I got from vit shoppe as gettingthere said. And know if you buy from there and save the container and your receipt, within 7 days i think it is, you can return whatever it is that you buy, should you not like it, they will give you a refund. They have a refrigerated section should you buy anything RTD (ready to drink/already mixed up) so you can try one before you buy a larger size.

I currently like Oh yeahs, pure protien and premier Proteins (premier's at costco and sam's) but IDK that they are 0 carbs. But they are low carb and great Protein sources. I prefer the RTD's, dunno why, but the protein powders just make me go yuck.... go figure.

Best of luck to you!

You can find a lot of low-carb whey Proteins at GNC. This is one I've used before, it's affordable and tastes decent. Only 3g carbs, 1g sugar per serving.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
