Congrats.

Just take it really slow on the soda. I drank a Dr. Pepper when I was about 8weeks post-op. I didn't have any problems, but I did find out tgat I really don't care for sodas anymore.

Just be careful with carbonation period, drink it slow and not a lot. Maybe even let it get a little flat, you might be able to tolerate it but the fizz can expand your pouch if over used.

I am of the mind that at least for me it would be a bad idea. As someone else said - I'm sure you can, but should you? Soda can be very addicting and has no nutritional value. It is also debatable as to whether it can stretch the sleeve. No thanks.

Can you try, try again to substitute something else?

I don't judge you for craving it - I have my own cravings. But as to whether I think it's a good idea - not so much.

I have not had a soda in almost (over?) a year now. I began to wean off them before I knew I would have the surgery, they just seem to trigger a need for sweets and such.

Not that I am drinking it but I just dont understand the stretching of the sleeve with sodas at all.Is the premise that the gas gets trapped in the stomach thus putting pressure on it and then it stretches?

Just a question.I do drink red bull sugarfree but opens the can and let it stand in the fridge until it is completely flat.

Is that ok to do?

It's the funniest thing to see this because just in the last few weeks, I've been itching for a taste of soda! I am also down to a size 8/10 from a 22/24. Wonder if there is something about this point in the weight loss?

I don't think I'm ever going to break down and buy a soda any time soon. I'm betting my memory of how good it was will not match how it tastes now. Not to mention knowing that there is really very little natural of anything in them. Empty calories, artificial sweeteners, chemical dyes and colorings. Not even sure if the Water they use is filtered for the bad stuff! I don't think the cringe that goes up my spine thinking of what's in soda will override whatever this craving is...

I would advise you or anyone looking to drink soda, energy drinks, etc. to please consider other options. Most of the time our body is just dehydrated and only needs Water. Is it really worth it? Maybe try adding some fruit juice to a fizzy water, see if that does it?

I am not sure how far out you are from surgery, but with any carbonated drinks, you need to be careful. The gas can be very painful even after a few sips. I am almost 2 years post op and still only drink a couple of sips if I do have one.

WOW, Congratulations on the weight loss!! I would say if you do break down and have a soda, just take it slow.

Congrats on your weight loss!! :) when I crave soda which is rare now I go get me a small coca cola slurpee and take a few drinks and the craving goes away that might help if you don't wanna drink soda.

I haven't had a diet soda for about 16 months now and I don't think about it anymore. At least that's 1 demon down for me. Now if I could just get rid of the head hunger....... If you haven't drank any soda up to now, why start now? I advise to just bury it in the past and move on with more healthy drinks. :)

I have a diet pop about once a week. For me there isnt any discomfort, it is not a trigger, and it doesnt change my weight loss. It doesnt taste as good as I remember...but it is a nice treat. Good luck with your decision.

Please dont do it! It's a bad habit. it would be like a smoker smoking again. The carbonation can stretch your sleeve. Sodas just aren't healthy anyways, remember, you took yourself off of it to begin with, the hard part is over. I had my sleeve done in May and yes here lately I have had the urge and even took a sip and oh wow, it hurt my stomach instantly. Never again. Stay healthy.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
