What does full feel like to you?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was banded August 28th and have had 1 fill of 1 cc. Still feel no restriction but I am curious as to whether the sensation of being full is going to feel the same as before or not. I understand that it is a little higher up but is it the same feeling as pre-band?

Also, I need some major encouragement because this is way harder than I thought. I have such a hard time not falling back into old habits.... and sometimes feel that this is all a waste...

I don't have a special feeling. It feels like I'm not hungry any more. I don't get pressure, pain, tightness, or any of the other "soft stops" I hear others describing. I feel it if I get stuck, and I feel it if I drink too soon, but no separate feeling to indicate fullness. This is part of why I'm starting to consider another fill.

When I get full now with my band I get a tight feeling almost in my throat. I don't get full in my stomach anymore, it is in my chest and my throat. Usually before I have had too much and get the golfball feeling in my chest I will burp, hiccup, get a runny nose or have my throat close up a bit. Sometimes I can eat a bit more if I just take a few minutes to let the food go down, other times I can see that I am "full" now and if I continue to eat I will PB or slime. It can be difficult to gauge when you are full now b/c it is entirely different than w/out a band. I cannot rely on my stomach now to tell me....Hang in there, it does get easier :)

Same as it did before, once or twice I've eaten too much and feel ready to BURST. That was uncomfortable enough that I dont care to repeat it. But generally I get the same signals I always did only much sooner.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
