I am not doing so well on my pre-op diet... I need some words of wisdom and some people telling me they had a hard time too... Have one more week of this and I want to do it right

Hun, only you...and I mean only you can choose how to approach this diet. Either you want to go all the way, or you want to add in your own way of doing things.

Will agree, the preop diet is horrid torture. But remember this is for your own benefit. Shrinks the liver allowing easier access for the surgeon. Also it preps you for that post-op diet right after surgery.

Wishing you the best to be your best!

Yeah I know the reasoning... It is crazy how some people don't have to do this. I am good with my Protein shakes... I just suck at cooking... That is where the problem lies

I start my 3 week pre-diet next Monday. I just looked over what I'll get to eat and it's so depressing. I need to go in with a better attitude, but I don't know how I'm going to survive on so few calories. I get headaches and grouchy when I don't eat. Co-workers beware.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
