missy4gordon 0 Posted October 16, 2006 I asked you I was hoping you would say "BS". OOHH, I'm a little slow sometimes! Gotcha.
BJean 16 Posted October 16, 2006 Green I'm in agreement your the approach to the natural/herbal debate. My son gets so irritated when he reads something boasting its' "organic" qualities. He argues that almost everything is organic, so what does that really tell us and why should we pay more for it. I said something similar in an earlier post about us Cowboys being in Iraq. The real shame and pity of it, besides the financial cost to America and the depletion of our military "defense" forces, is the cost of American lives! Can you believe that this administration can and did send real live people over there, watch them die, bring them home in caskets, and with a straight face, tell Americans that it is to liberate the Iraqi people? I mentioned the same thing about No. Koreans and South Africans. Where is BuSh when they need him? As far as the Swiffer products, I hate to further the cause of lining Procter & Gamble's pockets, but I have to tell you that as far as I'm concerned the Swiffer Duster is the best invention since plantation shutters!!! Tired_Old_Man 1 Posted October 16, 2006 OOHH, I'm a little slow sometimes! Gotcha.I like to put little hidden meanings into many things that I write. Some are more obvious than others. Green I'm in agreement your the approach to the natural/herbal debate. My son gets so irritated when he reads something boasting its' "organic" qualities. He argues that almost everything is organic, so what does that really tell us and why should we pay more for it. When some products are labeled organic, it means no chemical fertilizer and no chemical pesticides were used on those plant products while growing or that the meat was taking from animals that were fed by grain that was grown that way. We have to trade some things for others. More people get cancer and many other life threatening diseases now in their 50's, 60's and 70's. But many people never made it to 50 years of age, four or five generations ago. We could argue until the cows come home about chemicals in our food supply. Some are good when used properly. Some are abused by farmers who figure if this much is good, 4 times that much is 4 times better. Of course the toxicity will increase that way. And some chemicals, it turns out, should never have been used, but sometimes it's the long term effects that no one could have known about. Sometimes, though, the chemical's manufacturer knew of the problem but pushed it out anyway. Mushrooms are natural, but some can kill you. Marijuana is natural and I'll leave it up to you to decide if that makes it safe. Tobago is natural and alcohol does not require chemicals for distilling, so it is natural too. Beef is natural, as is apple pie and ice cream, but look how much fat we have acquired from eating them.
green 6 Posted October 16, 2006 I have to admit that I am deeply in love with the Swiffer Duster thingy and I like their floor washing gadget - the WetJet - a lot. Sometimes I think I live at the bottom of a dust bowl. Hooray for Swiffer!

green 6 Posted October 16, 2006 Well, Green smokes and she isn't very clean.... *not exactly a joke
BJean 16 Posted October 17, 2006 The son's point is, T.O.M. that just because something is labeled "organic" doesn't necessarily mean that it was grown without toxic chemicals. If it is without toxic chemicals (assuming that all chemicals are toxic) it will say so on the label. I mean for someone who nitpicks, I'm surprised you were willing to generalize on this one. I just can't seem to join in this game successfully. joke. Hurrah for fags (cigarettes), swiffer dusters and swiffer mops. I don't smoke anymore but would love to, very much. Cigarettes and other... sigh. no joke.
Tired_Old_Man 1 Posted October 17, 2006 It is hard to express humor in some of these posts. I know I am not sure when someone is teasing, so I can understand when someone doesn't understand when I am teasing. About organic foods, There is a 554 page government guideline for Organic foods. I have to admit, I did not read it and I am going on what I have heard about organic foods.
