praldous 19 Posted October 8, 2012 I love love love to walk. I was walking 2-3 miles a day my goal was 4 miles aDay In an hour. I nan do 2 miles in 30 min. So doable. That is until an old hip injury resurfaced. I had surgery on my left hip in 04. And was part of the reason I gain the weight. Now I'm lucky to get a day where I can get my 2 miles in Then I'm laid up for a few days in pain from the hip injury. Winters coming to NNY. So I planning on getting a gym membership. Any suggestions. Anyone out there suffering from chronic pain in their joints too.

Anyone out there suffering from chronic pain in their joints too. I have chronic pain in both hips, one has osteoarthritis and bursitis, the other has rheumatoid arthritis. I also had a torn ACL in my right knee, which is how I gained over 100 pounds when I could no longer exercise. It's been over 3 years since the torn ACL, and I am determined to get back into shape. I don't just want to lose weight, I want to be healthy and active. It's painful most days, but I really feel good too. I belong to the "Y", and on days that I'm in a lot of pain, I'll do Water aerobics instead.
sheila2050 17 Posted October 8, 2012 Be kind to your body. I think when a setback like this happens, it becomes an exercise for the mind . . . how to keep moving forward when your body, not your mind, is holding you back. I haven't been where you are but to me common sense says, slow down, heal. Good Luck!
