michelleooo513 245 Posted October 8, 2012 As I posted in a previous post.. I was going to go for lapband but I have since changed my mind and I'm going with the sleeve option. My surgery date isn't.until January 15th but my? ? Is this. What is the eating like afterwards. I know with the band it was... chew very slow till your food.liquifies.. u can't eat a lot of certain foods bc it may get stuck.. blah blah blah. Is there certain restrictions also with the sleeve? cmaloney 151 Posted October 8, 2012 Welcome! I was sleeved on 9/17 and it went great! Sounds like the same kind of process like lap band. You might have to be on puréed longer (not sure if banders go straight to regular food right away). Protein is extremely important with the sleeve. You must get that in first. Remember, you'll be full after 4-5 bites, so make sure you stop when satisfied & not full or you will feel discomfort....best of luck to you! So glad I did this. 2 Tina Z. and michelleooo513 reacted to this
crystalintville 66 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm 19 weeks out and mostly eat Protein followed by fruits and veggies, skim milk & oj juice boxes (carby yes, but I went from 2-5 gallons of milk a week to 8 oz a day). For my few cheats I have had bread~ soft & toasted maybe 1 oz serving, wheat thin & saltine crackers, dark chocolate chips, a persimmon muffin, a few bites of vanilla soft serve, 1/2 c of real lemonade with sugar, and a latte with skim milk & sf caramel Syrup all with no issues. I chew well but not total mush. Nothing has not stuck, no dumping, no foamies, tummy of steel here lol. Once you eat 60grams of protein a day in 3-4 4 oz servings there really isn't room for much of anything else and you get full like a Thanksgiving dinner full once you hit that 4 oz mark so I like having that restriction with the sleeve.
