teach5 20 Posted October 8, 2012 I am 2 weeks post op and it is getting harder to keep the Protein Shakes down. I switched to lactaid milk. I can keep everything else (not milk based) down. Has anyone else felt line this? How about energy? When advanced to pureed food did you see an increase in energy? I was expecting to feel better by now and just don't. Spatters3 315 Posted October 8, 2012 yeah... at 2 weeks out I just couldn't STAND any kind of Protein drink. I started eating pureed foods a week earlier than I should have (at about 2.5 weeks post-op) and it felt soooo good and tasted great! I started with refried Beans and melted cheddar cheese. eggs were, and still are, a little hard for me to tolerate, but cream of chicken Soup or cottage cheese or yogurt was just fine. Just take it easy, eat slowly and wait to see how your stomach reacts. It is important to get that Protein in and it is possible using pureed foods.

Have you ever tried the nectar Protein drinks? I'm still in the pre-op stage and am trying to prepare myself for a life of Protein Drinks to help get in the required daily amount... and so far the nectar Protein drinks are pretty tolerable and good. Do you know if this form of a Protein Drink is acceptable long term or is a more "shake" type Protein Drink with milk more preferred??
