I just thought I would pop on here and give you guys an update. I know that a lot of people stop posting once they reach goal or get about a year out, etc. but newbies and others what to know how it is to be sleeved this far out and what is going on at that point, so I thought I would continue to post monthly at least. I started out at 234 in August of 2011. Its been 14 months today and I am under my goal by 2 pounds. I have lost 101 pounds so far. I had been maintaining for five weeks but dropped another two pounds this weekend. I am going to have plastic surgery in 6 short weeks- so excited. I am having my arms done, my thighs done and a lower body lift that includes a Tummy Tuck. I have some lose skin issues and I want my body to be as good as it can be for 44 years old! I have worked hard to achieve this and it saddens me that I have lose skin. Admittedly, I didn't exercise as much as I could have and I am not sure how much good it would have done anyway.

I am very happy with my results and I hope to maintain this loss for the rest of my life. I can eat more now, that is for sure, but not a whole lot more. I was eating about 6 to 8 bites of things for most of the year, at a meal but now I am up to about 12 bites. Translation....about a half cup during the year and now about a cup at a meal. If its meat, not even that much. I still dont eat rice, Pasta, bread. Its too hard on my sleeve. I do eat potatoes occasionally but only a few small bites. I mostly eat meat and cheese, a bite or two of veggies. I eat whole wheat crackers with my cheese but only two of them. I also eat Peanut Butter on mini vanilla wafers for snack. I cant hold many so that is good. Potato chips are sliders for me so I only eat them occasionally. I am pretty set in my routine and I love it! I eat what I like and it works for me. Good luck everyone with their own personal journeys! Please feel free to message me or respond to this thread if you have questions or you think I might be able to help you in any way. I want to be present for those behind me, just as the veterans helped me with my journey. I am including a new comparison pic in this post.

Thanks for sharing. It's always great to hear from someone with long term results. I hope to be doing the same thing the end of next year.

You look awesome. I am about half way to goal and hope to make it by my 1 year anniversary. I have terrible saggy skin on my neck and my arms are pretty bad. I hope I can have all the excess skin removed one day! Congratulation.!!

Happy Sleeviversary and Congrats Forensikchic! I'm a few months past you and I agree - a lot of the posters I saw when I joined have moved on. I post a lot less than I used to as well, but I do try to get on and post here and there.

I want others to know that success can be out there and what maintenance looks like. I've been maintaining since March. I'm not as restricted as you and can enjoy starches in small amounts. I do have to consider what I am choosing to eat every day, but I do have treats.

Here's to another 14 months of success at goal weight!

I'm a Newbie (month two of the six- month insurance required supervised diet before surgery). You look great!!! I kept looking at the before picture and trying to hold that face in my head to match to the current. Couldn't do it. It's been a total transformation. You glow now. I honestly thought, if you were in a witness protection program before, nobody could spot the after.

I'd like to ask a question, but if its too personal, just ignore it. I'd like to know what you feel about the before woman now. Do you remember her? Do you miss her? When you see her picture, what is it like?

Congratulations! And thanks for truly inspiring me today. You give me HOPE. DeterminedGirl.

Haha my phone slipped off and commented "8", I love this thread! I too am a veteran approx 14 months as well. I haven't gotten to my goal yet. I am 26lns away (has to take meds due to a sickness that worked against my weight loss but now I'm off it and hope to continue to loose) I was a size 24 and now an 11 ;) yay us!!!! I thought I was the only veteran left! I do pop in a few times here and there to comment or give advice :) I love this support group!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
