happiness is having WLS, the sleeve :)

for medical reason i am prone to fall. i haven't fallen in a few months. when i fall, i have to turn, roll on my knees ( both have been replaced) and with difficulty get up.

i fell the other day, i got up a lot better than i usually do. I was so happy. I said to my DH, hmmm, do you think this has anything to do with my weight loss (lifting up 90 lbs less of me?) ;):)

DH and i were walking today, i was walking pretty well, better than my usual tortoise pace - i said hey, do you think i'm walking better from my weight loss? ;):)

i went to the mall today for the first time in a long time, i bought a smart phone.

in the past, i wouldn't have gone into a big mall, amongst many people - my confidence is way up there now :)

i am a happier person thanx to the sleeve - i am hanging around too, working hand and arm in the sleeve :D :D

Congratulations!!! These are such significant victories, and must make you feel fantastic! Look at you, buying a new smart phone and taking your cute self to the mall. Don't ever be shy to go out and about. You are a beautiful spirit on this board and always have an encouraging word and an uplifting thought to share. Don't hide your light!

BTW, did you notice your weight loss slow around six months? Or has it been steady? Thanks for any advice!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
