Dont be scared ! You'll do great. The anesthesiologist will come to talk to you before surgery and you can ask any questions. They are usually very good about calming people's fears since it is very common to be afraid. And dot worry , they will give you some tranquilizing drugs before you even get to the operating room to calm you down ... You won't be scared by the time the moment comes to actually put you under anymore :)

Thank you. I really hope I'm just chill and ready to go but I already know myself when I had a c section with my son almost 2 yrs ago I freaked out..I couldn't even talk I felt like someone was on top of me( and that was just when they told me he had to be delivered via csec)

I was also very scared to go under and dreaded it up until the day of surgery. I had an emergency csection about 5 years ago and it freaked me out. So I asked online here what was worse, csection or this surgery. 99% said a csection was worse so I figured I made it through that, I can make it through this. I met with the anesthesiologis and my surgeon and I was completely calm then. I think trying to go into it with a positive attitude really helped as well. I think back now about all the energy I spent on worrying about the surgery and I can only smile and kinda laugh at myself. You can do this. :)

I was scared as heck too. Usually the anesthesiologist comes and asks if you have any questions and that's a good time to tell them you're worried, they are good at handling it. They gave me a sedative as they were wheeling me into the surgery room, so I was much calmer, able to get myself on the table and the second they put the mask on me I either fell asleep or at least got to a point that I don't remember. Woke up in recovery room feeling very foggy, but fine. It's scary but you'll come through on the other side and not remember a thing =)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
