smiller1982 26 Posted October 7, 2012 5 days post op and I've somehow magically contracted a cold. Coughing, sneezing and wheezing suck after surgery. Plan your surgery after cold and flu season I beg of you!
Pinky Green 260 Posted October 7, 2012 Oh, man. I had a bit of a cold going into surgery and every time I get a cold, I get asthma. The only real problem I had in the hospital is that when I woke up in the recovery room they kept telling me that I wasn't breathing and to take deep breaths. It hurt quite a bit to take deep breaths and they decided to give me oxygen. Finally, after 2 or 3 hours I started breathing well enough for them to take me out of the recovery room and put me in my regular room. It was a little scary. julielle 199 Posted October 7, 2012 Ugh I feel for you, I had a cough after my c-section and that was no fun. What helped me was to hold a pillow tight to my stomach before coughing, not sure if that would help in your case but good luck!
Pinky Green 260 Posted October 7, 2012 Well, I'm 10 days post-op now and feeling great and my cold has pretty much gone and I'm breathing better than I have in a long time now. I've lost 7 pounds since surgery.
smiller1982 26 Posted October 7, 2012 Thank you! I'll definitely be trying the pillow trick. Also glad you're feeling better.
Lloydthumper 70 Posted October 7, 2012 I was sleeved 9/19 and I'm good now to sneeze or cough but I was scared to death I was going to the first week post op I thing I would have passed out. I actually sneezed the first time today and I was ok. I did almost swallow wrong in the hospital but I caught it with just enough that I could just clear my throat and be ok. I feel for you though. I hope you get better soon.
