So for the last 4 months I have had my.mind set on the band but lately I question if that is right for me. The one major thing that made me decide that I wanted the band was because of the risks. I really think I would be more successful with the sleeve due to the decrease in hunger' date=' restrictive eating and watnot. What made you decide to go with the sleeve instead of other wls? Right.now I'm 5 7 and 342 lbs. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!!![/quote']

Another was stuck feeling sweating etc. I already get hot flashes.

I waited until I went to a seminar and spoke to my surgeon at lenth about the differences between the band, sleeve or by-pass. I know several people who've had all procedues-lap band- problems with food going down, all gained some weight, and are struggling, always need band adjusted. Bypass-too fast a weight loss- they looked pale, gaunt and unhealthy-plus I have digestive issues so my surgeon said the sleeve would be best for me. 2 coworkers sleeved last year, one lady is at goal having lost 85 pounds (she's so tiny now!) and the other has lost 100 (she stlll has a little ways to go but she's reversed her diabetes and feels great!) I learned I am Pre-diabetic and have sleep apnea, so this surgery is saving my life as far as I'm concerned! Good luck with whatever choice you make!

I was going to get the band, then I did some research and decided on the sleeve. My issue with the band - I am only in my mid-30's and I can't imagine having a foreign object in my body for the rest of my life. I just could not imagine myself as a 65 year old person with this device in me. My sister had breast implants and said she has to have them replaced every 10 years. Will that end up the same for a band? And the fills, I could not imagine having a pump that I have to fill and reduce as needed.

The sleeve, which I had back in mid June, has been FANTASTIC for me. I like that I can eat what I want, but quantity is limited. I said that I can eat what I want and I do eat what I want. I want to eat clean and healthy, so that is my new choice post-surgery.

I would go witht he sleeve if I were you. It is a wonderful life-style change that is very worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
