TamaraS 235 Posted December 20, 2012 surgery was 9/27 and tomorrow will be 12 weeks. I have lost 39lbs since the day of surgery. The low weight loss is due to my terrible eating, old habbits die hard :/

Christine1322 20 Posted April 24, 2013 I was sleeved 9/7/12 along with my husband. I had lost 64 lbs at around 5 months but have since been in a 2 month long stall. I tried everything to bust through it. Yesterday the scale FINALLY started to move again. Yay! It was after increasing my calories (I kept reading about that over and over but it was the last thing I tried, because I was afraid of re-gain...) I started at 293 lbs., BMI of 44. However, during that stall I went down one full size and 2 belt notches. Since being sleeved we've been on 2 cruises and didn't gain anything on either of them, where prior to this surgery we gained 10-20 lbs every time we'd go on one, and we'd do heavy, unhealthy dieting prior to the cruise and then again afterward. The restriction has been fantastic because it allowed us to nibble at a variety of foods but never overindulge. I've gone from a size 3X/24 to an XL/18. I have tons more energy. I am able to do my beloved yard work and gardening again. My biggest NSV was on this last cruise when we did a 6-hour excursion that included lots of hiking, climbing, and zip-lining. I would have never even considered trying this prior to surgery. I have had both knees replaced but with the weight loss and increase in muscle tone since the surgery, I was able to do all of this and I was so proud of myself. My husband has lost nearly 90 lbs. He carried all of his weight in his stomach. He is a hunky stud now!! I'll attempt to get some pictures on here soon. I haven't figured out how to do that yet. haragl 26 Posted January 28, 2014 Surgery was Sept 24. Wish I cxould say it had been an easy road and the weight had just fallen off but that isn't the case. My first post-op visit I was down 14 lbs in 17 days and I was think wooo-hoo--but I didn't lose anything the next one and started to have to fight for every lbs. I can eat anything, except potatoes, but I do still feel restricition and will get full quicker--it's like I can feel the food from my gut all the way to the back of my throat. My sister had the surgery and has had trouble eating and her weight has just "fallen off"--at 6 months she is less than 10 lbs from goal and I am 16 months out and still have about 130 to go to reach goal. I even put back on about 15 lbs--I will admit that I go discouraged and just quit working it so I have no one to lay the responsiblity out but myself. I am now back in the game and working hard to follow the plan--need to exercise more but can always find excuses not to do it--I keep telling my self that as long as I am losing that it doesn't matter how long it takes but that's hard to deal with sometimes. My sister was never heavy and got heavy (not as heavy as me but heavy) but I have been heavy all my life--I am coming to believe that old fat just is harder to get rid of then new fat-lol but as Dora said in Finding Nemo---Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Anyone else in same boat? Sure would love some company.
teatimed 23 Posted February 2, 2014 My surgery was also on Sept 24th 2012. I'm currently in a 2 month stall. I still have restriction but I manage to eat more often and my choices of what I ingest are not always wise! I am exercising 3 - 4 times a week. I do feel much better. I was a 5X and am now XL, I fit in a size 14 pant! Which is fantastic but I feel that I should have lost more weight at this point. Anyways, I'll be starting to track my food on fitness pal, that way I can control how many calories I'm actually eating. Hope it works.
