Anyone Had Dumping Syndrome?

Depends on what you call "dumping". From what I understand dumping is the stomach pushing food out into the small intestine when it's not properly treated with acid and begun to break down, the result is the small intestine spasming and objecting to the raw food, typically either accompanied by a severe nausea or diarrhea. It is MORE common in those getting RNY bypass surgeries as they no linger have a functioning pyloric valve in their functioning digestive tract. The typical reason for dumping is eating too much, too fast or eating too rich a food.

Truth be told ANYONE regardless of WLS or not, and if you think back you probably have had it before too, you remember that meal that just made you sick right away and had diarrhea soon afterward? That was probably dumping. It is casued by the pyloric valve opening up before the food was ready to be passed to the small intestine. Perhaps it WAS eating to fast and a mechanical misfunction or somehow the valve got the wrong signal and opened too soon, or a food that sat wrong with you and made it open.

IF you do experience it it seems to lessen after 6 months or so poast-op, in a year you may never have it again, then again get a case of stupids and eat too much too fast and you could most definatly have it many years post-op.

I just stopped everything but my Vitamin and pepcid and just drank Water. Mine started Wednesday evening and didn't really stop until Monday night. I was weak and didn't feel great but I drank lots of Water. Good luck!

I had this happen one time since surgery. I ate some sugar, to much! I felt very week, got clammy, and thought I was going to pass out! The only thing that made me feel better was getting in some Protein, after that I was fine. Never want to do that again though!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
