This cracks me up a but but my hubby has lost 12 pounds since my surgery and my daughter lost 9. ALL because we haven't eaten out one time. Guess who the real problem is in this family?? Ha- I already knew I was.

My son has been begging me for something. I may agree to subway tonight. Wish I could eat that :(. Not on to salads yet. I don't eat bread. I love oven roasted chicken breast. Hmmmmmm

lol. My husband has lost 10. Before I went on my pre op diet I did a bunch of cooking and put everything in single serving containers for him. The Portion Control was huge for him :) As he saw me not eating as much he chose to eat carrots, celery etc.. with his lunch instead of pop tarts!

Now when I donate clothes I can donate his too I bet!!

No eating out for us either!

my wife has lost 62 pounds since my first meeting with the NUT on april 1st. she is a freaking rock star!

(i do all of the cooking and grociery shopping, so, she said if she was going to eat healthy food, she may as well work on portions and excercise too)

That's so Awesome! My hubby by no means is trying. If anything he's annoyed by my eating now. I think it's funny.

My wife went on the 10 day preop diet with me...liquids only. And we've been hiking, cycling and jogging together since I was cleared for exercise. She said she was only going to eat what I was allowed to eat. But one day I was taking out the trash and I saw an empty Doritos bag stuffed down in the trash bag. God love her for eating it when I wasn't around....I never mentioned it to her. She's the best.

How long was it before you were cleared for exercise?

I lost 25 lbs before surgery (yesterday), but my husband lost 37. I cannot wait to catch-up to him.

Just the opposite in our household. I haven't wanted to cook much, just little bits of things for myself. I'm 5 weeks out and still experimenting with foods. My guy has probably gained a couple lbs since feeding himself equals Mac n cheese, frozen pizza, ramen & burritos. Poor thing, I better get back in the kitchen soon!

Don't know if you can have lettuce yet? But if you have Jimmy Johns in your area, they have the best "unwich" - it's any of their sandwiches wrapped in lettuce. I love their totally tuna unwich and am looking forward to having that when my diet allows.

That is awesome Bean! My hubs has said he is going to do the liquid diet with me. He has also told me to just cook the things I am allowed to eat once I get on full foods after surgery. He is already very active and has been bugging me to go with him to the gym. He is hoping to lose about 10-15 lbs himself because he wants to lose the "Marriage gut" I gave him lol.I am keeping some treats around for the kids but only stuff that won't tempt me:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
