Ever Feel Like Surgery Can't Come Soon Enough?!

Recommended Posts

It's as if my body suddenly got wise to the fact that I'm having VSG surgery, and it's crying out for that glorious day!

Just since starting the long pre-surgery process, my knee suddenly has a mysterious "snap, crackle, pop!"....my left heel is totally rebelling...and my tailbone is starting to say enouuuughhh! LOL. Thankfully these things haven't been an issue until now because of my weight....but man, is the timing almost comical :P

Can't freakin' wait!! That is all.

I hear ya, I have a lil over a month to go still. And all I keep thinking about is I hope I dont get sick or something happen before surgery. and I ended up in the ER twice on labor day weekend for a swollen salivary gland and now need my wisdom teeth pulled lol. and my shoulder all of a sudden is killing me. I hope nothing gets in the way of me having surgery Nov14! Good Luck too u!

my surgery is schedules for next thursday, oct 11. I'm not sure how to feel. I don't know if I'm supposed to be excited or scared. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I'm scheduled for Oct 23rd. Time is going so slow. I'm sure when I start my 2 week liquid diet, the time will pass even slower. Lol.

Id say to spend your last month waiting for surgery enjoying your favorite foods (in moderation, of course). Unfortunately I've gained 4 lbs because once I was assigned my surgery date I threw moderation out the window. I surely regret it, but am going to rock my pre op diet to try to make up for the past few weeks of poor eating.

Good luck to you!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
