Should I Be Concern?

Recommended Posts

I saw my Dr. This past Tuesday and he gave me a surgery date (Oct 11) even though I should be happy I am a little concern. I called my insurance company (Fidelys NY) and as of today they have no claim for this surgery. I don't know what to do, should I wait till next week or should I keep bugging them until they tell me something convincing ?

Keep the date but keep calling the doctor's office for approval also the insurance to see whats going on. Last year I needed a hospital stay and did not get my insurance to approve it til 2 days prior. Frustrating but call every day.

Honesty is best u don't want to b stuck with a bill. Even though they told u a date, all hospital forms state and u sign that u r responsible financially for services rendered In addition everytime u call insurance company they log when, what and reason u called. Caution

Thank you for this advice, I am calling the Dr.'s office instead if the insurance company, this is making me very nervous and anxious

Hi there, just had my surgery last Friday. I did not get the insurance approval till 3 days prior. Stay on them. Call 2 or 3 times a day. Good luck.

Make sure your dr's office received authorization and you should be fine. Every ins is different but the one i worked for (bcbs of tx) did not file claims until after services were rendered. Good luck! --sorry i meant to say most dr's offices dont file claims until services are rendered. :)
